153rd Calvert County Jousting Tournament
Saturday, August 31, 2019
This event features the traditional equestrian sport of ring jousting. This is the spearing of rings while riding on a running horse. The competition is broken down into 4 classes based on skill only. Men and women, as well as adults and children, compete against each other. Ring jousting has been active in Maryland for over a century and a half, ultimately becoming Maryland's official state sport in 1962. You may also visit our 19th century one-room school, shop at a bazaar and cool off in the air-conditioned church while enjoying an organ concert. Stay for a family style dinner which includes deviled crab, baked ham, fried chicken (choice of 2), assorted side dishes, dessert and drinks. Enjoy as a boxed supper or served in an air-conditioned hall. Shop at the bazaar which will also include a children's corner featuring pony rides, face painting, a balloon artist and many other activities.
