    For children entering grades 4-7. Do you have what it takes to build a successful colony? In this day camp participants will embrace the role of a 17th century colonist in the Chesapeake Bay. Take a voyage on our Skipjack, Dee of St. Mary’s, go on an adventure through the marsh, make your own map, and discover the skills needed to survive in a strange and mysterious land. Participants should bring a bag lunch. Fee: $20 members/$25 nonmembers

    This weekly market offers seasonal delights from local farms including, fresh, flavorful fruits and vegetables, fresh herbs, cheese, meat, seafood, fresh-baked goods, cut flowers, and bedding plants. You can sample the wines from our very own Calvert County wineries and purchase by the glass or bottle. Classic car enthusiasts can enjoy viewing some of the coolest vehicles in the area at the Classic Car Cruise-In.

    The Road Scholar Music Series presents Bob Zentz in the Harms Gallery. Zentz is a prolific musician, playing several dozen instruments in a repertoire of more than 2,000 songs. An accomplished teller of the tales behind the songs, and an acknowledged scholar of the evolution of “home-made” music, Bob has performed for audiences of all ages. His six albums span the genres of folk, traditional, Celtic, and maritime music and beyond. Tickets are $10 each (cash or check). Doors open at 6 p.m. with beer and wine for sale.

  21. 151st Calvert County Jousting Tournament

    August 26, 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM @ Christ Church

    This event features the traditional equestrian sport of ring jousting. This is the spearing of rings while riding on a running horse. The competition is broken down into 4 classes based on skill only. Men and women, as well as adults and children, compete against each other. Ring jousting has been active in Maryland for over a century, ultimately becoming Maryland's official state sport in 1962. You may also visit our 19th century one-room school, shop at a bazaar and cool off in the air-conditioned church while enjoying an organ concert. Stay for dinner which includes deviled crab, baked ham, fried chicken (choice of 2), assorted side dishes, dessert and drinks. Enjoy as a boxed supper or served in an air-conditioned hall. The bazaar will also include a children's corner featuring pony rides, a balloon artist and other attractions.
