    Date: Apr 26 2019 - Sep 22 2019 Gallery: Kay Daugherty Gallery Join us as we explore the wide realm of folk art, outsider art, and visionary art - and other artistic expressions that are often situated outside the world of mainstream fine arts. This exhibit will highlight the unconventional, the authentic, and the self-taught artists. What materials and perspectives are artists exploring? How are artists blurring the lines between fine and folk, maintstream and outsider? What cultural traditions, personal histories, or social commentaries inspire their work? What identities and issues are finding a voice? How does this work challenge our ideas and address the human condition? These and other ideas and expressions will find a home in this exciting new exhibit.

    CalvART is a cooperative gallery located in Prince Frederick, MD, and affiliated with the Arts Council of Calvert County. calvART is a showcase for artists from Southern Maryland and highlights work from a wide range of styles and media. Our artists excel in paintings, pottery, jewerly, sculpture, woodturning and photography. calvART highlights artwork by the Southern Maryland community and partners with community groups and organizations for its shows. You are always welcome to browse, and spend a part of the day looking at our artwork and meeting the artists. Consider joining us at our monthly receptions and special events. These themed storytimes are for families with children of multiple ages and include stories, songs and fingerplays.   5. Wellness Wednesday - Yoga and Run

    July 24, 2019, 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM @ Running Hare Vineyard

    A little info on what we have to offer: Yoga: Instructor Caroline Jane will lead you through 30 minutes of Full Body Flow then 30 minutes of gentle yoga to prepare for savasana. Once you are energized you can celebrate with a glass of wine. This class is a ticketed event, $18 at the door, this includes a glass of wine. Running Club: The club will offer a 3 mile, 4 mile, and a 5 mile course through our beautiful property. Once you are done running you can participate in a core circuit and a group stretch with fitness instructor Caitlin Fregelette. Once you‘re done working on your fitness, bring a light dinner and enjoy a glass of wine or two as you watch the sun set over the vines. Both the yoga class and running club start at 6:30. The Yoga will be at the Tuscan Events Building and the Running Club will meet down at the outdoor tasting room.

  7. Free Mac Lab Tour

    Enjoy a free behind the scenes tour of the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory, a state-of-the-art facility that houses over 8 million artifacts, including collections from every county in Maryland. The “Behind the Scenes” guided tour allows visitors to get up close and personal with our conservators and our collections. Reservations are not required. However, large groups need to make other tour arrangements, and may be charged a fee. Tours are at 11:00 am and again at 1:00 pm.

  9. Brett Eldredge featuring Cassadee Pope

    Southern Maryland country fans get their second show of the season with Brett Eldredge on Friday, July 26 at the PNC Waterside Pavilion! This singer/songwriter dropped his first two albums into the top two positions of Billboard’s country chart with Bring You Back and Illinois, and did the same with an incredible six singles in a row, all hitting #1. More recently, fan-favorite Love Someone gives true meaning to the term “man’s best friend”. Eldredge’s throaty baritone shines with casual confidence, and progressive country mixes freely with classic pop and soul. Opening for Eldredge is up and coming country star, Cassadee Pope. This young singer, songwriter, and musician became the first female winner of hit show The Voice in 2012.

  10. Friday Night Farmers' Market, Classic Car Cruise-In & Art Fair

    This weekly market offers seasonal delights from local farms including, fresh, flavorful fruits and vegetables, fresh herbs, cheese, meat, seafood, fresh-baked goods, cut flowers, and bedding plants. You can sample the wines from our very own Calvert County wineries and purchase by the glass or bottle. Classic car enthusiasts can enjoy viewing some of the coolest vehicles in the area at the Classic Car Cruise-In. The Friday Night Art Fair also will be taking place on Bay Avenue ( between 5th and 7th street) and is open to all artists who locally design, make and sell art. The vision of the NB Art Fair is the promote locally design art and produce creative and unique art. The Art Fair's program helps community-cased artist and art organizations make locally produced art available tot he community residents and visitors. Stop by and find some art work.
