    The Shaping of America: a painter's perspective September 27 - October 26, 2019. Main Gallery Join us for an art exhibition featuring the paintings of ten women artists who see and experience the genre of landscape painting in uniquely different ways. Inspired by the written word of American geographer D.W. Meinig, the exhibition highlights how each painting embodies the idea of "landscape" as experienced through the hand of the artist and the eye of the viewer. Your idea of what "American Landscape" is will twist and turn with each layer of painted material. Our artists excel in paintings, pottery, jewerly, sculpture, woodturning and photography. calvART highlights artwork by the Southern Maryland community and partners with community groups and organizations for its shows. You are always welcome to browse, and spend a part of the day looking at our artwork and meeting the artists. Consider joining us at our monthly receptions and special events.   3. When Darkness Falls: Night Explorations

    With the setting of the sun, the transition from day to night stirs within us a sense of mystery. What secrets does the night hold? What dreams and mysteries can be uncovered? When Darkness Falls will exhibit imagery that depicts night as the setting of the work. Artwork will reflect on why we are drawn to the darkness, and the unknown. Work will dramatize darkness, examine the juxtaposition of illumination in darkness, explore symbolism related to darkness such as gloom and superstition and reveal the mystery cloaked in wonder of the night.

  4. CCNPP Trunk-or-Treat and Community Info Night

    October 25, 2019, 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Office Facility

    Free family-friendly event to learn more about the carbon free generation of nuclear energy and day-to-day operations of the plant. Station employees will be on hand to educate visitors on safety and security, environmental stewardship, emergency planning and more! Partnering with local emergency responders, businesses and food vendors to provide kid-friendly activities including Trunk-or-Treat with lots of food allergy friendly treats, simulator demonstrations, kids activities and much more!

  5. Moovie Night at Spider Hall Farm "Hocus Pocus"

    Come to our Annual Showing of Hocus Pocus! This is a FREE event! The Parking lot opens at 6:30 pm, the movie starts at dark. Chairs and blankets we recommend you bringing, the viewing area will be in the field behind the farm stand. Outside food and drinks are allowed, NO alcohol. We do allow smoking, but in designated areas. Pets are NOT allowed during this event. Parking will be in our field across from the farm stand. The ice cream shop will be open before , during and after the movie. We will have the inflatables up until 15 before the movie will begin. We are looking forward to having you all.

  6. Maritime Performance Series: HANNEKE CASSEL BAND

    Presented by the Southern Maryland Celtic Society and the Calvert Marine Museum: The Hanneke Cassel Band features Tristan Clarridge on cello and Keith Murphy on guitar/vocals. Effervescent and engaging, Boston-based fiddler Hanneke Cassel is a performer, teacher, and composer whose style is a blend of the contemporary and traditional. Multi-instrumentalist, 5-time Grand National Fiddle Champion, and pioneering cellist, Tristan Clarridge creatively synthesizes traditional folk influences with elements of jazz, rock and pop music, and is leading a revolution among young cellists throughout the USA. Newfoundland-born guitarist Keith Murphy is a proficient multi-instrumentalist. He applies considerable energy to the rhythmic side of music, becoming a valued band member and highly sought-after sideman on guitar, mandolin and foot percussion. This performance is sponsored in part by the Ruddy Duck Brewery & Grill, Solomons.
