  1. FOLKSY Cultural Traditions and Outside Visions

    April 27, 2019 - September 22, 2019 @ Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center

Date: Apr 26 2019 - Sep 22 2019 Gallery: Kay Daugherty Gallery Join us as we explore the wide realm of folk art, outsider art, and visionary art - and other artistic expressions that are often situated outside the world of mainstream fine arts. This exhibit will highlight the unconventional, the authentic, and the self-taught artists. What materials and perspectives are artists exploring? How are artists blurring the lines between fine and folk, maintstream and outsider? What cultural traditions, personal histories, or social commentaries inspire their work? What identities and issues are finding a voice? How does this work challenge our ideas and address the human condition? These and other ideas and expressions will find a home in this exciting new exhibit.

  2. Public Archaeology Program

    May 7, 2019, 10:00 AM - June 29, 2019, 4:00 PM @ Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum (JPPM)

Every summer, volunteers are given the opportunity to see what it is like to be an archaeologist and excavate an actual site, through our Public Archaeology Program. You can help us dig and screen for artifacts in the field, or wash, label, and count objects at the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Lab. And if you don’t want to get dirty, you can just watch the work in progress. You can come as often as you want – an hour, a day, the entire season! It’s a fun way for the whole family to learn about the past. Who knows what great discoveries await you?! Field work is Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Lab work is Tuesdays and Thursdays. Public Archaeology is free, open the public and all ages are welcome, but registration is required. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. To register, please contact Ed Chaney at 410-586-8554 or email: ed.chaney@maryland.gov

  13. The One and Only, Mr. Bruce Sudano

    May 11, 2019, 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ Tobacco Barn Stage @ Fridays Creek Winery

Mr. Bruce Sudano will grace the Tobacco Barn Stage and share his life’s stories, songs and more up close and personal. Get tickets early ! Bruce Sudano has had his hand in some of the 20th century’s biggest hits, sung by megatalents from Michael and Jermaine Jackson to Dolly Parton and Donna Summer, his late wife. At this point, he could easily rest on his musical laurels. Instead, he recorded an album about life right here, right now, in this 21st Century World. And he filled it with hard questions, some well-aimed finger pointing and poignant observations about the human experience. He has returned to touring as well. These days you can find him performing alongside an eclectic group of musicians. From the wildly successful band Johnnyswim to the iconic British band The Zombies, or with young rockers Hollis Brown, Sudano is back on the road, on fire and re-engaging with audiences. 21st Century World is out now.
