    Date: Apr 26 2019 - Sep 22 2019 Gallery: Kay Daugherty Gallery Join us as we explore the wide realm of folk art, outsider art, and visionary art - and other artistic expressions that are often situated outside the world of mainstream fine arts. This exhibit will highlight the unconventional, the authentic, and the self-taught artists. What materials and perspectives are artists exploring? How are artists blurring the lines between fine and folk, maintstream and outsider? What cultural traditions, personal histories, or social commentaries inspire their work? What identities and issues are finding a voice? How does this work challenge our ideas and address the human condition? These and other ideas and expressions will find a home in this exciting new exhibit.

  2. Art Show: Trash To Treasure at CalvART Gallery

    CalvART is a cooperative gallery located in Prince Frederick, MD, and affiliated with the Arts Council of Calvert County. calvART is a showcase for artists from Southern Maryland and highlights work from a wide range of styles and media. Our artists excel in paintings, pottery, jewerly, sculpture, woodturning and photography. calvART highlights artwork by the Southern Maryland community and partners with community groups and organizations for its shows. You are always welcome to browse, and spend a part of the day looking at our artwork and meeting the artists. Consider joining us at our monthly receptions and special events.   3. Lighthouse Adventure Cruise: Southern Bay

    Several days a year the museum hosts day-long Lighthouse Adventure Cruises aboard a private charter vessel. The cruise departs from the Calvert Marine Museum at 7:45 a.m. and returns approximately 5 p.m.

  4. Wetland Kayak Trip

    July 27, 2019, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ Kings Landing Park

    For adults, ages 18 and up. Enjoy a peaceful morning paddle as we wind slowly along marshy channels looking for flowering plants and animal families. Participants may bring their own paddles and life vests. Location: Kings Landing Park Meet at the parking lot by the pool. Naturalist in Charge: Lindsay Hollister Reservations and payment are required in advance.

If you’re new to the area and you want to get in on the game, join us for our new Seafood Series. One Saturday each month we’ll explore the world of Chesapeake Bay cuisine in all its glory. And this month, we’re starting with a hometown favorite - crab cakes. Chef Brian will walk you through how to handle, form and cook them to perfection! What to Expect: Seafood Series Classes are 90 minutes long. Enjoy a leisurely morning as you watch our professional chef demonstrate a specific culinary skill or recipe You will enjoy a small plate of each dish that is prepared.
