Overview
The following brief overview is for informational purposes only.
Required License
As of January 1, 2001, the builder must also be licensed and registered as a Home Builder in the State of Maryland. A license number will be required before any permit application will be accepted. It is unlawful for any person to engage in the business or to act in the capacity of a building contractor within the County without first being registered and have a license issued by Calvert County. MHIC licenses are required for home improvement contractors. Property owners may construct their own dwelling on their own property without a license (with proper permits).
