Speaker Series: Equestrian Artifacts of The English Tobacco Colonies - Identification, Manufacturing, Trade and Interpretation.
Thursday, October 22, 2020
Many of the metal artifacts recovered on colonial archaeological sites in Maryland represent hardware from saddles and bridles. These often unrecognized pieces of history offer insight into the relationship between colonists and their horses. Sara will share her research on how to recognize and understand the meaning of these artifacts, and better yet, she will bring the artifacts themselves for attendees to see in person.
