Chronolog stations are a citizen science tool that helps make gradual environmental changes visible. Because long-term monitoring is often costly and complex, Chronolog offers a simple, collaborative solution: crowd-sourced time-lapse photography. By connecting communities with land stewards, Chronolog creates visual records of change in important natural areas. The mission is to engage people with nature in an interactive way and to document environmental change for scientific research.

Experience the Patuxent River
Along the shore of the Patuxent River, Kings Landing Park has a history stretching back to Captain John Smith’s exploration and earlier. Once an active farm and later a YMCA camp, it is now managed by Calvert County’s Natural Resources Division and offers a host of options to enjoy.
Enjoy the scenic views of the river and wetlands, fish from the pier or launch your kayak, canoe or stand-up paddleboard and explore the marshes of the Patuxent River.
Take a hike on our trails with your four legged friends and learn from our wayside exhibits, funded by the Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network, designed to help visitors learn about the significance of the river and the abundant wildlife that depend on it. Hiking trails are open and beckon you and your dog for a jaunt.
