Let's celebrate rejects, underappreciated, and misunderstood works - and give them another chance at life! With all works priced under $350, this is a wonderful opportunity to find a fabulous work of art that someone else rejected, but might be perfect for you! We'll be selling the works off the wall, so you can take the art home to enjoy immediately. Expect to see works from Southern Maryland artists and beyond!

  4. 2nd Annual Rebelling Against Stigma 5k

    Come join Calvert Behavioral Health Recovery Support Presents Rebelling Against Addiction 5K. This year it will be held back by Kellam's field in Chesapeake Beach on April 20, 2019. Parking will be in the Kellam's field parking lot located at 3855 Gordon Stinnett Avenue, Chesapeake Beach. On-site registration will open at 7:00 AM. With the speaker starting at 8:00 AM and the race starting at 8:30 AM. Event is free, registration is required. Join us for a morning of fun. First 30 ADULT registrants get a free t-shirt!!

  5. Spring Break Activities: Fossil Egg Hunt

    April 20, 2019, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Calvert Marine Museum

    Back by popular demand! Look for eggs with real fossils inside, hidden throughout the museum. Participants will be given a container for egg collection; no baskets are needed! After finishing your hunt, docents will identify your fossil finds. A follow-up activity will allow you to “excavate” fossils from matrix, using the tools of a paleontologist. Activities planned for ages 3 – 10. Program is included with museum admission.

  11. Teen Homechool Kayak mini-series

    For students ages 12-16 years old - no parent needed Our spring Teen Homeschooler classes will be a 3-part series on kayaking and the ecology of the Patuxent river and its tributaries. Each month we will go out in kayaks to explore the river and the areas around it. We will use nets, water quality equipment, and our own senses to learn more about the river and the plants and animals that call it home. Teen homeschool days will give your teen a chance to get hands on experience with science and nature activities, provide an opportunity for service, and have fun in the company of other teens while doing it.   12. PlasticWatch: Reducing plastic waste on Solomons Island

    We’re all used to disposal plastic, but some of it ends up in our streams, rivers, the Chesapeake Bay, and ultimately the ocean, harming the wildlife and sealife.     Enjoy a free behind the scenes tour of the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory, a state-of-the-art facility that houses over 8 million artifacts, including collections from every county in Maryland. The “Behind the Scenes” guided tour allows visitors to get up close and personal with our conservators and our collections. Reservations are not required. However, large groups need to make other tour arrangements, and may be charged a fee. Tours are at 11:00 am and again at 1:00 pm.

  26. Spring Guided Family Hike @ ACLT

    Bring the whole family for an ACLT “Guided Family Hike” starting from our North Side Trailhead. We will be hiking to ACLT’s newest and most popular feature – The Raft! The Raft connects our north and south trail systems. It’s a railed platform which uses a pulley system to allow the rider to pull themselves across a narrow section of the creek. Guests will be guided to the raft to have the fun of pulling themselves across and back, then the group will continue around Parkers Creek Loop to Double Oak Rd Trail. Call to register: 410-414-3400.   27. City Nature Challenge Bioblitz @ Flag Ponds

    This is a self led event. Spend the an hour or a day outside exploring with your family in this fun bio blitz-style event called the “City Nature Challenge.” It’s easy – look for and find wildlife and plants, take a picture, and share it to iNaturalist (this can happen back at home also). City Nature Challenge 2019 Calvert County is part of the City Nature Challenge of the Washington DC region. Cities around the world will be competing to see who can make the most observations of nature, find the most species, and engage the most people in the 2019 City Nature Challenge. During the weekend of April 26-29, 2019 individuals and groups will be on the hunt for animals, plants, mushrooms, and other life forms. These observations will be documented on iNaturalist and counted towards our region's tally.
