See why the bay was so important during the Civil War, and discover ways Confederate raiders tried to out-smart the Union blockade of the eastern seaboard. Did you know the brood X 17 Year Cicadas will be emerging in mid-May to mid-June? And Maryland is at the epicenter! Let’s take a hike and look for emergence holes, cicada sheds and noisy cicadas.

    The 2021 North Beach Farmers’ Market season is tentatively set for May 1 through September 25, 2021. We are pleased to announce changes to the market that will give it a traditional, small town atmosphere. The new North Beach Farmers’ Market will be held on Saturday mornings from 8 to 11 am in the parking lot of the North Beach Senior Center. The market will include local vendors with items such as plants, farm vegetables, baked goods, meats, cheeses, eggs and other fresh goods. The Town of North Beach will follow the State of Maryland’s masking order and physical distancing order for outdoor public areas that exist at the start of, and during, the Farmers’ Market season.

    Nearly 70 archaeological sites document a remarkable and varied history that goes back thousands of years at JPPM. Through this special guided hike, visitors can learn about the 9,000 years of human history uncovered by the archaeology carried out on the park. Please note this is an approximately 3-hour, 2.5 mile hike on various surfaces/elevations, and can be strenuous for new hikers. Dress comfortably and bring plenty of water, as there are no fountains along hike. Groups will meet at the Visitor Center parking lot. In the event of rain, tours will be cancelled.

Some you will need to look for in rotting logs, like fun Bess beetles. Still others might even land on your shirt, like the charming Lady beetle. What will we discover? We’ll even craft our own click beetles to take home.

  36. Hybrid Stars and Stripes Ceremony Festival
