  11. Night at the Museum for Friends with Disabilities

    The museum and grounds will be open exclusively for guests with disabilities and their families, friends, or caregivers from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This FREE event is offered in cooperation with Calvert County Parks & Recreation Therapeutic Recreation Services (TRS). Meet the museum otter mascot, learn about fish, fossils, river otters, skates and rays, maritime history, and enjoy activities in the Discovery Room. Explore the boat basin and Drum Point Lighthouse. A calming room will be available. The Museum Store will be open and full of items for all ages and interests. Cruise on the Wm. B. Tennison at 5 p.m., 5:45 p.m., or 6:30 p.m. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED for each person to ride the Wm. B. Tennison

    We are pleased to continue our traditional, small-town atmosphere farmers' market for the 2022 season! The farmers' market season will be from May 7 through October 22 and will be held on Saturday mornings from 8 am to 12 pm in the parking lot of the North Beach Senior Center. The market will include local vendors with items such as plants, farm vegetables, baked goods, meats, cheeses, eggs and other fresh goods. The Town of North Beach encourages all guests to HELP REDUCE WASTE by bringing your own bag and using the appropriate disposal containers provided at the market.

    The Calvert County Department of Parks & Recreation invites the public to celebrate the opening of Breezy Point Beach & Campground for the 2022 season at the annual Breezy Point Beach Blast-Off event. The all-ages event will be held Saturday, May 21 from 5-9 p.m. Admission will be free and preregistration is not required. Attendees will enjoy music, food for purchase from local food trucks, family games and a spectacular fireworks show to end the night. Everyone is welcome to bring a picnic or use the grills at the beach; grills are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The use of gas grills, pull-behind grills, smokers and deep fryers is prohibited. Alcohol, smoking/vaping, pets and glass containers are prohibited.

    Join us outside in the park for gently guided nature walks as we investigate the forests and fields at Annmarie. Led by Hester, our staff naturalist, these walks will be lightly themed, but will allow children to investigate and discover all kinds of wonders. The conversation will be guided by whatever we find together! Dress appropriately for the weather and wear shoes that can get muddy. These guided walks are designed for ages 4-6 and their adults, but siblings are welcome to explore too. Cost includes admission to the park, so pack a picnic and stay and play afterwards!

  30. JPPM Guided Hiking Tour

    Nearly 70 archaeological sites document a remarkable and varied history that goes back thousands of years at JPPM. Through this special guided hike, visitors can learn about the 9,000 years of human history uncovered by the archaeology carried out on the park. Please note this is an approximately 2-hour, 2.5 mile hike on various surfaces/elevations, and can be strenuous for new hikers. Dress comfortably and bring plenty of water, as there are no fountains along hike. Groups will meet at the upper parking lot directly across from the Visitor Center. In the event of rain, tours will be cancelled.
