Our artists excel in paintings, pottery, jewerly, sculpture, woodturning and photography. calvART highlights artwork by the Southern Maryland community and partners with community groups and organizations for its shows. You are always welcome to browse, and spend a part of the day looking at our artwork and meeting the artists. Consider joining us at our monthly receptions and special events. Reception: October 12th 5 -8 pm.

  2. When Darkness Falls: Night Explorations

    With the setting of the sun, the transition from day to night stirs within us a sense of mystery. What secrets does the night hold? What dreams and mysteries can be uncovered? When Darkness Falls will exhibit imagery that depicts night as the setting of the work. Artwork will reflect on why we are drawn to the darkness, and the unknown. Work will dramatize darkness, examine the juxtaposition of illumination in darkness, explore symbolism related to darkness such as gloom and superstition and reveal the mystery cloaked in wonder of the night.

  4. SOMD Vegan Restaurant Week

    Southern Maryland Vegan Restaurant Week Launching November 2nd-9th, 2019 During this time, participating restaurants will feature a separate vegan menu (or vegan dish), specially created for this week-long community event. In addition to vegans, all diners are encouraged to enjoy a variety of plant-based menu items that support healthier diets, the environment, and compassion for all. Participating in the Southern Maryland Vegan Restaurant Week gives local restaurants the opportunity to further highlight their passion for creating unique and tasty menu items for all diners. As a result, this innovative and community-wide experience will continue to promote and provide awareness about the numerous benefits of plant-based eating whilst supporting local businesses. Calvert businesses participating include: Ruddy Duck, Lotus Kitchen, Dry Dock, Kingfishers, and No Thyme to Cook will run a vegan cooking class that week.

  5. 2nd Annual Kids' Half Mile Super Hero Dash

    November 2, 2019, 8:15 AM @ Calvert Marine Museum

    The the 1/2 mile Kids Super Hero Dash for children 6 and under again this year. The dash begins and ends on Calvert Marine Museum Property. Participants will run on the grassy area located beside the CMM parking lot. No Dogs or Pets. Parents are allowed on the course with their child. Participants are encouraged to dress in their favorite super hero costume (be sure they are safe to run in). All runners will receive a participation certificate and the top finisher in the age categories 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6 will receive a trophy. The child voted the best Super Hero costume will receive a $25 gift card. Super Hero Dash participants do not receive a t-shirt. Early registration and check-in begins at 7:45 a.m.

  6. Step by Step 5K Fun Run/Walk

    November 2, 2019, 9:00 AM @ Calvert Marine Museum

    Early registration and check-in begins at 8 a.m. The STEP BY STEP 3.1-mile (MD 12024JS) begins and ends at the Calvert Marine Museum covering scenic Solomons on hard roads and through residential areas. No Dogs or Pets. Strollers allowed. Prizes will be awarded to male and female runner & walkers in all categories: 10 and under, 11-13, 14-16, 17-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and over; Best Overall Walker; Oldest Participant; and Youngest Participant. Free t-shirts provided to the first 100 paid participants. Refreshments provided to all participants. Door Prizes too!

From 1-5, enjoy Fran Scuderi on our outdoor stage! Fran loves a crowd and draws you in! With his country/reggae/acoustic rock genres, he can really entertain, often bringing guests up to help out! Be on the alert, because you may just see a duet with one of our own RHV staff. You just never know what Fran has up his sleeve.
