  1. RISE UP! A Teen Art Exhibit

    February 15, 2019 - April 14, 2019 @ Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center

    RISE UP! is a teen exhibition program that will showcase the talent, creativity, and perspective of today’s teens. Whether through visual artwork, digital, video, creative writing, spoken word, music, or other performing arts, the exhibit will include works that communicate what it means to be a teen in the world today. RISE UP! will include an online gallery, a juried gallery exhibit, and performance opportunities. These teens are going to RISE UP! and let their voices be heard!

    calvART is a cooperative gallery located in Prince Frederick, MD, and affiliated with the Arts Council of Calvert County. calvART is a showcase for artists from Southern Maryland and highlights work from a wide range of styles and media. Our artists excel in paintings, pottery, jewerly, sculpture, woodturning and photography. calvART highlights artwork by the Southern Maryland community and partners with community groups and organizations for its shows.   3. A Taste of History: Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth

    No Thyme to Cook is thrilled to welcome back acclaimed Food Historian Joyce White for her continuing series – A Taste of History. This month Joyce will show us how the history of sugar cane has changed over the years in Western culture. From its introduction to Medieval England to the Victorian days, sugar has had many incarnations. It was first used as a medicine and a spice, then in courtly dining as part of an after dinner ritual known as the Void. Sugar was also used to create masterful sculptures and was the focal point of the Tudor banquet. Throughout the presentation you’ll sample an assortment of historic sweets and confections.

    LOVEJOY GROUP presents A Tribute to Cole Porter. Vocalist and bandleader Karen Lovejoy fronts this talented quartet. These musicians have been thrilling audiences since the late 90s with lively and imaginative renditions of American classics. Jazz came alive in an era of great songwriters. This musical presentation highlights this music that so much of the jazz world hinges on. But, " It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing," and this performance does!!
