  2. FOLKSY Cultural Traditions and Outside Visions

    Date: Apr 26 2019 - Sep 22 2019 Gallery: Kay Daugherty Gallery Join us as we explore the wide realm of folk art, outsider art, and visionary art - and other artistic expressions that are often situated outside the world of mainstream fine arts. This exhibit will highlight the unconventional, the authentic, and the self-taught artists. What materials and perspectives are artists exploring? How are artists blurring the lines between fine and folk, maintstream and outsider? What cultural traditions, personal histories, or social commentaries inspire their work? What identities and issues are finding a voice? How does this work challenge our ideas and address the human condition? These and other ideas and expressions will find a home in this exciting new exhibit.

  3. A Class and a Glass - Yoga at Running Hare Vineyard

    Let’s kick off the 5th season of A Class & A Glass! Enjoy a 60 minute yoga class with yoga instructor Beth Cory-Leonini on the Portico of our Tuscan Events Building followed by a glass of wine or a pint of beer down the hill at our outdoor tasting room. Pack a picnic and stick around after yoga and enjoy live music from 1-5 pm. What to bring: yoga mat, towel, water, and your photo ID. Valid ID is required for ALL alcohol purchases. Rain or shine, we will be practicing! $20 per person

  5. Spring Guided Family Hike @ ACLT

    April 28, 2019, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ American Chestnut Land Trust

    Bring the whole family for an ACLT “Guided Family Hike” starting from our North Side Trailhead. We will be hiking to ACLT’s newest and most popular feature – The Raft! The Raft connects our north and south trail systems. It’s a railed platform which uses a pulley system to allow the rider to pull themselves across a narrow section of the creek. Guests will be guided to the raft to have the fun of pulling themselves across and back, then the group will continue around Parkers Creek Loop to Double Oak Rd Trail. Call to register: 410-414-3400.   6. City Nature Challenge Bioblitz @ Flag Ponds

    This is a self led event. Spend the an hour or a day outside exploring with your family in this fun bio blitz-style event called the “City Nature Challenge.” It’s easy – look for and find wildlife and plants, take a picture, and share it to iNaturalist (this can happen back at home also). City Nature Challenge 2019 Calvert County is part of the City Nature Challenge of the Washington DC region. Cities around the world will be competing to see who can make the most observations of nature, find the most species, and engage the most people in the 2019 City Nature Challenge. During the weekend of April 26-29, 2019 individuals and groups will be on the hunt for animals, plants, mushrooms, and other life forms. These observations will be documented on iNaturalist and counted towards our region's tally.
