  1. When Darkness Falls: Night Explorations

    With the setting of the sun, the transition from day to night stirs within us a sense of mystery. What secrets does the night hold? What dreams and mysteries can be uncovered? When Darkness Falls will exhibit imagery that depicts night as the setting of the work. Artwork will reflect on why we are drawn to the darkness, and the unknown. Work will dramatize darkness, examine the juxtaposition of illumination in darkness, explore symbolism related to darkness such as gloom and superstition and reveal the mystery cloaked in wonder of the night.

  2. Annmarie Ornament Show and Sale

    Presented by the Annmarie Gift Shop, the Ornament Show & Sale is a juried show that features hand-crafted ornaments by more than 20 regional artists. This is the perfect place to find unique and affordable gifts for friends and family. The ornaments are beautifully hung on trees displayed in the Main Gallery of the Arts Building. Visitors shop off the trees and take their purchases to the Gift Shop. The show kicks off before Thanksgiving and runs through early January. During Garden In Lights, the show is open late!

  3. Annmarie Garden In Lights -Enchanting Holiday Light Show!

    Join us for the most magical time of year as Annmarie Sculpture Garden is transformed into a twinkling wonderland! Annmarie Garden In Lights will transport you and your family to an enchanted world where they will discover glowing "light sculptures" and wondrous light installations. Discover wild animals, wintery wonderlands, musical holiday scenes, deep sea treasures, the art walk, fantastic heroes and villains, and so much more! New this year, dance under the woodland disco ball and draw on the glow-in-the-dark chalkwall. Pick up a Holiday I Spy guide (before you head outside) for some added fun! After your walk, experience the joy and warmth of the season in our beautifully decorated Main Gallery, where you will find live nightly entertainment (scroll down for full schedule), hot cocoa and treats from the Hardesty Holiday Cafe, and great shopping in the Ornament Show & Sale and the Annmarie Gift Shop.

  6. New Year's Day 5K

    Start your New Year off with a healthy challenge! Join SMCN for our 5K New Year's Day Race on January 1, 2020. Single participant entry is $30.00; kids 9 and under are free and we have a virtual option with a $20.00 entry fee. Chesapeake Bay Running Club members get a $5.00 discount. Race packs include a commemorative shirt while supplies last. Registration begins at 7:00 am and the race starts at 8:00 am. Ways you can register:, drop off your form and payment or register the morning of the race. Race is timed for 1 hour and timing services are provided by the Chesapeake Bay Running Club. Awards to top male and female overall then 1st, 2nd, and 3rd by age group. Enjoy light breakfast options before the race and post race hot soup!

  7. New Years Day Hike

    January 1, 2020, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Flag Ponds Nature Park

    All ages, families and adults, children must be supervised by an adult. Come ring in the New Year with a brisk hike through the winter woods of Flag Ponds. Dress in layers for frosty weather, and explore the uplands, swamps and ponds on this circuit hike of the park. The hike will be approximately 3 miles in length. We will end back at the Visitor's Center to warm up with a cup of hot cocoa.

  8. Polar Bear Plunge

    January 1, 2020, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Town of North Beach

    Polar Bear Plunge: The COOLEST event of the year! Plungers take a quick dip, splash or swim in the frigid Chesapeake Bay. Some feel the plunge is a way to cleanse their body and to welcome in the new year; others may have just lost a bet! Plungers enjoy hot cocoa and roast marshmallows around a warm bonfire. This event is FREE, but you may choose to pay to participate. Paying participants receive a certificate and t-shirt. The net proceeds of the event go to a charity that is chosen by the Town of North Beach. This event draws hundreds of brave participants and spectators.
