    CalvART is a cooperative gallery located in Prince Frederick, MD, and affiliated with the Arts Council of Calvert County. calvART is a showcase for artists from Southern Maryland and highlights work from a wide range of styles and media. Our artists excel in paintings, pottery, jewerly, sculpture, woodturning and photography. calvART highlights artwork by the Southern Maryland community and partners with community groups and organizations for its shows. You are always welcome to browse, and spend a part of the day looking at our artwork and meeting the artists. Consider joining us at our monthly receptions and special events. February reception: February 8th 5-8 p.m.

  2. Teen Homeschool Day - Phenology Series

    February 13, 2020, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Flag Ponds Nature Park

    Location Flag Ponds Nature Park Spaces left 4 Registration Members Registration opens July 8. Nonmembers – $8.00 Fee is per person. For students ages 12-16 years old - no parent needed. Our Winter/Spring homeschool series focuses on “phenology” - nature’s calendar. It is the study of seasonal changes in plant and animal life-cycles such as date flowers begin to bloom or frogs start singing in the spring. Month to month, we will make and record weather observations and check in with the plants and animals at Flag Ponds Park - watching winter change to spring.

  3. Sea Squirts: Sniff, Touch, Taste, Look and Listen - The Five Senses

    This program is designed to invite adults and children to discover the museum together through music, stories, and special activities.   4. MAC Lab Tour

    The Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory (MAC Lab) is a state-of-the-art archaeological research, conservation, and curation facility located at Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum, the State Museum of Archaeology, in southern Maryland. The MAC Lab serves as a clearinghouse for archaeological collections recovered from land-based and underwater projects conducted by State and Federal agencies throughout Maryland. The MAC Lab also houses a number of major collections acquired through private donation to the Maryland Historical Trust. All of these collections are available for research, education, and exhibit purposes to students, scholars, museum curators, and educators. Free MAC Lab tours are offered every Thursday at 11 AM and 1 PM by our docents. Please take some time and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to view the MAC Lab and learn more about the research, conservation and curation that is done there.

    Dinner & a Movie returns! And this month we’re showing Dirty Dancing. Baby (Jennifer Grey) is one listless summer away from the Peace Corps. Hoping to enjoy her youth while it lasts, she's disappointed when her summer plans deposit her at a sleepy resort in the Catskills with her parents. Her luck turns around, however, when the resort's dance instructor, Johnny (Patrick Swayze), enlists Baby as his new partner, and the two fall in love. Baby's father forbids her from seeing Johnny, but she's determined to help him perform the last big dance of the summer.
