    CalvART is a cooperative gallery located in Prince Frederick, MD, and affiliated with the Arts Council of Calvert County. calvART is a showcase for artists from Southern Maryland and highlights work from a wide range of styles and media. Our artists excel in paintings, pottery, jewerly, sculpture, woodturning and photography. calvART highlights artwork by the Southern Maryland community and partners with community groups and organizations for its shows. You are always welcome to browse, and spend a part of the day looking at our artwork and meeting the artists. Consider joining us at our monthly receptions and special events.     Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center in Solomons, Maryland, is pleased to present a powerful new exhibit exploring images and experiences of woman in art, as creators, innovators, consumers, and subject matter. She: An Expression of Womanhood will run through September 27, 2020 in the Kay Daugherty Gallery. The juried exhibit features over 80 works from local and national artists. Themes. Images, and experiences are expressed in a variety of mediums, including, painting and drawing, fiber, assemblage, and sculpture.

  4. Homeschool Fridays - Phenology Series - AM

    Ages 4-12; Our Winter/Spring homeschool series focuses on “phenology” - nature’s calendar. It is the study of seasonal changes in plant and animal life-cycles such as date flowers begin to bloom or frogs start singing in the spring. Month to month, we will make and record weather observations and check in with the plants and animals at Flag Ponds Park - watching winter change to spring then summer.

  5. MAC Lab Tour at Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum

    Free staff-led MAC Lab tours are offered the first Friday of every month at 1 PM. he Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory (MAC Lab) is a state-of-the-art archaeological research, conservation, and curation facility located at Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum, the State Museum of Archaeology, in southern Maryland. The MAC Lab serves as a clearinghouse for archaeological collections recovered from land-based and underwater projects conducted by State and Federal agencies throughout Maryland. The MAC Lab also houses a number of major collections acquired through private donation to the Maryland Historical Trust. All of these collections are available for research, education, and exhibit purposes to students, scholars, museum curators, and educators. Please take some time and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to view the MAC Lab and learn more about the research, conservation and curation that is done there.

A colorful mixture of saffron-flavored rice and various meats, paella's name comes from the paellera, the flat, round pan in which it is cooked.
