  3. Virtual - Bloom & Grow: Brilliant Botanicals

    We will start with an online show on our website and social media accounts, and then move to a physical gallery show once the public gathering restrictions have been lifted. Please note this means the artwork delivery dates and the gallery show dates may change as we progress through this crisis. If your work is accepted, we will keep you informed of any changes. Current details are listed below. Bloom & Grow is a lush, colorful, and wide-ranging celebration of floral and botanical art. From biblical depictions of the Garden of Eden, to the plein air art of the Impressionists, to the bold stylized motifs in pop culture, depictions of flowers are plentiful throughout art history and visual culture. Bloom & Grow will feature works that continue these traditions, as well as works that push beyond to explore the symbolic, the emotional, the environmental, and the personal connections we have with flowers, plants, and all things that grow outdoors.

    Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center in Solomons, Maryland, is pleased to present a powerful new exhibit exploring images and experiences of woman in art, as creators, innovators, consumers, and subject matter. She: An Expression of Womanhood will run through September 27, 2020 in the Kay Daugherty Gallery. The juried exhibit features over 80 works from local and national artists. Themes. Images, and experiences are expressed in a variety of mediums, including, painting and drawing, fiber, assemblage, and sculpture.

  9. River Ecology Kayak Trip

    August 1, 2020, 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM @ Lower Marlboro Pier

    A perfect trip for beginners to learn about kayaking and get out on the water. We will focus on basic kayak skills and the ecology of the Patuxent River. Registration limited to 8 people. Ages 9 years to adult. Participants must be at least 9 years old to accompany an adult in a double kayak, and at least 12 years old to ride in a single kayak. Those under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Bring your own kayak and get $10 off the program fee.

  12. Historic Sunset Supper Cuises

    Climb aboard the historic Wm. B. Tennison for a 90-minute cruise through history. A museum educator will share fascinating facts about Solomons, the WWII Amphibious Training Base, and Solomons’ rich tradition of boat building. While munching appetizers, see old steamboat wharves and hear about the important role they played in town life. View historic homes, landmarks, and other points of interest. Discover where heroic battles were fought, submarines sunk, lighthouses lit, Ghost Fleets docked, and watch the sunset over the horizon. Return to the museum for a short presentation and a light supper from No Thyme To Cook. Participants are invited to bring their own libations.
