    CalvART is a cooperative gallery located in Prince Frederick, MD, and affiliated with the Arts Council of Calvert County. CalvART is a showcase for artists from Southern Maryland and highlights work from a wide range of styles and media. Our artists excel in paintings, pottery, jewerly, sculpture, woodturning and photography. "For The Birds" - Linocut prints of birds of all sorts, flying, foraging, flocking and floating. Also included are gourds made into fully functional birdhouses, painted and decorated to become whimsical habitats such as spaceships, creatures, and characters.

  6. On Paper: Printmaking, Book Art and Beyond at Annmarie Garden

    The Kay Daugherty Gallery at Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center will feature On Paper: Printmaking, Book Arts & Beyond. Selected work will highlight the expanse of printmaking and book arts as an artistic discipline. Techniques such as relief printing, etching, lithography, paper making, book binding, letterpress, collage and papercut will be explored. All works should showcase the unique process and craftsmanship that goes into each handmande paper, print, or collage. Select media welcome; small to large-scale works; indoor and outdoor works; cash awards will be presented.

  11. Preschool Nature Walks: Brilliant Beetles

    Join us Friday mornings outside in the park for gently guided nature walks as we investigate the forests and fields at Annmarie. Led by Hester, our staff naturalist, these walks will be lightly themed, but will allow children to investigate and discover all kinds of wonders. The conversation will be guided by whatever we find together! Dress appropriately for the weather and wear shoes that can get muddy. These guided walks are designed for ages 4-6 and their adults, but siblings are welcome to explore too. Cost includes admission to the park, so pack a picnic and stay and play afterwards! This session: Brilliant Beetles— Let’s hunt beetles around the garden. Some beetles can be found nibbling our landscape plants, like the beautiful but loathed Japanese beetle. Some you will need to look for in rotting logs, like fun Bess beetles. Still others might even land on your shirt, like the charming Lady beetle. What will we discover? We’ll even craft our own click beetles to take home.

  13. Guided Hiking Tour of Jefferson Patterson Park

    Nearly 70 archaeological sites document a remarkable and varied history that goes back thousands of years at JPPM. Through this special guided hike, visitors can learn about the 9,000 years of human history uncovered by the archaeology carried out on the park. Please note this is an approximately 3-hour, 2.5 mile hike on various surfaces/elevations, and can be strenuous for new hikers. Dress comfortably and bring plenty of water, as there are no fountains along hike. Groups will meet at the Visitor Center parking lot. In the event of rain, tours will be cancelled.

  14. River Cruises on the Wm. B. Tennison

    Enjoy a one hour cruise on the river with a relaxing sightseeing cruise. On your cruise, you will cruise the busy Solomons inner harbor, see Solomons Island and the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory, pass underneath the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge and turn back at Pt. Patience and the Naval Recreation Center. Departures are from the Calvert Marine Museum dock. All cruises are weather permitting. Tickets are available for purchase online and at the Admissions Desk. Maximum capacity is 20 persons. Accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities with reasonable notice. No strollers allowed. All passengers must wear a mask for this one hour cruise.
