  2. North Beach Farmer's Market 2021 Season

    July 17, 2021, 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ North Beach Senior Center Parking Lot

    The 2021 North Beach Farmers’ Market season is tentatively set for May 1 through September 25, 2021. We are pleased to announce changes to the market that will give it a traditional, small town atmosphere. The new North Beach Farmers’ Market will be held on Saturday mornings from 8 to 11 am in the parking lot of the North Beach Senior Center. The market will include local vendors with items such as plants, farm vegetables, baked goods, meats, cheeses, eggs and other fresh goods. The Town of North Beach will follow the State of Maryland’s masking order and physical distancing order for outdoor public areas that exist at the start of, and during, the Farmers’ Market season.

  4. Mystical Animal Sculptures: An Outdoor Family Workshop

    July 17, 2021, 10:00 AM - July 18, 2021, 12:00 PM @ Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center

    Join visiting artist, Kelsey Joyce, and design your own fantastical animal sculpture in papier mache. In this 2-morning family workshop we will learn how to design & create our own sculptures based on imaginary creatures using papier-mâché, aluminum foil, wire, acrylic paint, and more. On day one we will design a creature, create an armature, and papier-mâché while learning about Mexican folk art creatures called Alebrijes, created by combining features from different animals. On day two we will paint and detail our sculptures while exploring the cultural importance of alebrijes, imagination, and traditions and lore from around the world. This is a parent/child outdoor workshop. Tables will be socially distanced and set with individual kits for maximum safety. Due to COVID safety guidelines, all participants must wear a mask (up and over nose!) while in class. Class will be outdoors, so dress according to weather. Fee is for one adult/child couple.

    Drop by the Woodland Village and get a glimpse of what life was like along the Patuxent 500 years ago. Watch staff ply the skills used by the Eastern Woodland Indians in their everyday life and give these activities a try yourself. This free event inside our Woodland Indian Village provides hands-on instruction on various topics including pottery, mini poplar baskets, stone tools, fire and hunting. Visitor will be subject to temperature checks and must maintain social disancing.

  7. Wild-crafted Tea @Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum

    Let's make some delicious, nutritious Triple Tea together! We will blend peppermint, lemon balm, and "wild-caught" Perilla mint, a non-native herb that is used by some cultures in cuisine and medicinally. We will venture to the wild edges of the park to gather the Perilla mint. Then, the plants will be processed for further use at home as fresh or dried leaves. Participants receive a potted peppermint, and a potted lemon balm to take home.

  9. River Cruises on the Wm. B. Tennison

    Enjoy a one hour cruise on the river with a relaxing sightseeing cruise. On your cruise, you will cruise the busy Solomons inner harbor, see Solomons Island and the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory, pass underneath the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge and turn back at Pt. Patience and the Naval Recreation Center. Departures are from the Calvert Marine Museum dock. All cruises are weather permitting. Tickets are available for purchase online and at the Admissions Desk. Maximum capacity is 20 persons. Accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities with reasonable notice. No strollers allowed. All passengers must wear a mask for this one hour cruise.
