Located at Calvert Pines Senior Center in Prince Frederick, the program offers an atmosphere of acceptance and mutual respect. The program encourages seniors to take part in senior center activities, with support of a professional who is knowledgeable about the needs of seniors with developmental disabilities. It empowers seniors to enjoy their retirement years in a non-stressful environment. A wide range of support is offered from structured weekday activities to the coordination of independent access to the same programs and services available to all seniors at Calvert Pines Senior Center.
Eligibility Requirements
The CREATE! for Seniors program is open to persons aged 55 plus who have a developmental disability and who are able to participate in senior center activities. Seniors who are interested will need to be accepted by the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration for daytime funding. If a senior does not have funding in place, please contact us.
An "ombudsman" is an advocate, and Calvert County's Office on Aging Ombudsman Program is committed to safeguarding the rights and enhancing the well-being of residents in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities. The program’s advocates work to address and resolve complaints made by or on behalf of residents, ensuring they receive the highest quality of life.
Nursing home residents have the right to:
Be treated with respect, dignity, and consideration.

Be free from mental, verbal, and physical abuse and restraints.
Be notified of any transfers or relocations.
Make complaints and express grievances.
Keep their personal possessions.
See family and visitors and make phone calls.
Be informed about facility services and changes.
This program is committed to ensuring that these rights are protected and respected.
